"Everything starts with a dream"
Karanba was founded in Rio de Janeiro in 2006 by former professional football player Tommy Nilsen. The project's ambitious goal is to change lives.
The project has through continuous growth, measurable results and close to ten years of activity proved its legitimacy and sustainability.
Tommy has received numerous awards for his work with Karanba in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Including the medal Rios pride (Orgulho Rio) in 2011 from the Brazilian newspaper "O dia". For Tommy, "Karanba" is a wordplay on "Caramba," which best describes how he felt when he first saw the enormous social and economic inequalities in Brazil.
